DDT
On this day in 1969 the Nixon administration announced a ban on the use and production of DDT.My father-in-law is an entymologist who used lots of DDT in his day, and insists that it is perfectly harmless to humans. If you talk to him he will tell you that he once ate a pancake made using DDT instead of flour! He is 88, and in good health.
