Turkey day hits!

This little project Long Burn has been puttering along for almost 10 months now. According to my records the site is up to about 12 hits a day, mainly my Mom and a brooding teenager in a basement in Skokie. Hi Mom! Yesterday, Long Burn got 114 hits. I just gotta know. Who are you? Where do you come from and who sent you? Do you come in peace? (By the way, I have started wearing a bike helmet, just like our Commander-in-Chief.)

Man alive, you never know who is going to stop by! Great to hear from you Steve and glad you found your way to Long Burn. (How did you find it by the way? There must be about 2.7 million blogs out there). Happy Bird Day. Be great to catch up & hear all your stories. Mark Rollins stopped by last summer, as did Eric Holland.

Regarding Bick and the bottomless pit, did you remember it the way I did?

Steve: stay in touch! I don't know if you will have internet access in Afghanistan but if so feel free to send me an update at matthew.johnson@tele2.se. Would be great to hear what you are up to. Sounds like you will get there just in time for the holidays. Good luck and I will be thinking of you.

Yeah that's right, you were holding the rope and I grabbed Bick's arm.

I always wondered where that hole came from. Its not limestone rock up there, like down in So. MN, so there shouldn't be caves. I had to think it was man-made. But why?

I remember once the camp truck up at Crow Wing fell into a hidden hole by the waterfront, in front of the Loon's Foot. Turned out to be the basement of a cabin that they had covered over ages ago and forgotten about.

Don't forget to send me a note from Afgh-- would love to hear how it is going.
