-Data from NASA

'The policy choices that lie ahead are more daunting than political leaders or the media have thus far been ready to acknowledge. In a sense, twenty years of frustrating trench-warfare with the sceptics has prevented a rational discussion about what needs to be done from even taking place.'

-Quotation from the journal Nature, 8 February 2007.

What we need to do is somehow get a large meteor to hit the Earth, filling the atmosphere with debris and cooling the planet back down to a comfortable level for polar bears and corals.

papa twister: I think that's a good idea. I bet Halliburton has a meteor-crashing subsidiary that could deliver the event. Sure there'd be the usual cost overruns, but it would be in the interest of the U.S. and that's what's important.
