The Buffets

You only learn who has been swimming naked when the tide goes out -- and what we are witnessing at some of our largest financial institutions is an ugly sight.

-Warren Buffet, the Oracle of Omaha, quoted in the NYT

And who can argue with success? Warren appears to be taking over Alan Greenspan's role as the elder statesman of American finance. His brother Jimmy is moving into haute cuisine with the establishment of the Margaritaville and Cheesburger in Paradise restaurant chains.

Funny... but Warren Buffet is one of the better billionaires out there. If Arnold would've listened, California would be a much better place today.

I sense a lot of love for Mr. Buffet right now. And lots of hate for Ben Bernanke.

Late night on Swedish TV they show left-wing conspiracy documentaries. There was a good one a few weeks ago about how moneyed conservatives in CA conspired the Enron rolling blackouts to discredit Gray Davis, leading to the recall vote that put Arnold into office. First-rate stuff. What is it that Arnold didn't listen to??

I explained it and lost it, so... The Governator appointed Warren Buffett as an advisor to help figure out California's budget crisis. CA has a terrible law called Prop 13. It has sunk the state. It is one of these "screw you I'm rich" laws. It's basically destroyed the public school system in California. Warren Buffett said that repealing Prop 13 would save the state in every way. He said he was embarrassed about how little he had to pay on property taxes on his multi-million dollar mansion. And the Governator dismissed Warren the following day.

Bravo.
Prop 13 and Reagan came from Seamy Valley.
